Add An Art Show

  • Log in
  • Hover on Goward House at top left of black column
  • On drop-down menu which appears, click on Dashboard
  • In Dashboard, hover on Media, then from drop-down, click on Media Categories
  • Scroll through the list of artist galleries (each is a category)
  • If he/she has a gallery category, good. When images are uploaded we can direct them to the artist’s personal gallery
  • If the artist does not have a gallery category, you must create one to send his/her images to
  • In the left column you can add the new category, eg:
    • Name Jane Doe
    • Slug: jane-doe-gallery  (no spaces; all lower case)
    • Parent Media Category: select from drop-down menu ‘Art Show Galleries’
    • Click blue button ‘Add New Media Category’
  • Hover on Media and click Library
  • Upload artist’s images including bio image to library under the artist’s category name
  • Go to Dashboard>All pages and find last month’s art show
  • Hover on it to reveal the links to various actions
  • Click on Clone. A copy of the art show will appear (‘draft’)
  • Rename the art show as the name of the current month (change title and permalink and ‘save’
  • Change the specifics of the Art Show to those of the current month, namely:
    • dates
    • name of the art show
    • name of artist
    • info about the artist
    • images for the gallery
    • bio image
  • publish your page
  • Go to Dashboard>Appearance>Menus
  •  In Menus, you will notice you are in the Primary Menu, the only menu on this website
  • Find ‘Pages’ in the left column
  • At the top of the list of pages you will see your new art gallery page
  • Check the box next to it
  • Click ‘Add to Menu’
  • Scroll down  the page to the bottom of the menu to find the new art show page you just added
  • Grab and drag the new art show page to the second from the top position (after About Art Shows) of the art show section of the menu and drop it there
  • Make sure it is positioned at the same level as the other art show pages (indented pages are ‘children of a ‘parent’ page)
  • Review menu to ensure it is correct
  • Double Save Menu (click the green rectangle at bottom of editor; click the blue ‘Update’ button in the right column)
  • Click on ‘View Page’ to go to the front end and review the page to ensure all is correct
