If I join Goward House part way through the year, do you pro-rate the dues?
Yes. You pay according to that portion of the year remaining. However, if you join after August 31 you are charged for an entire year and  your membership does not expire until December 31 of the following year.
How do I join an activity?

You must be a Goward House member to join any activity. You can register for an activity by phone, email or in person at the Goward House front desk. There is generally a maximum number allowed in each activity. The activity description under ‘Activities’ in the left-hand menu lays out the requirements and fees.

How much do activities cost?

Activities fees are usually 3.50 or 7.00. The general fee structure is described under ‘Fees’ on the top menu. For specifics, read the activity description for the activity in which you’re interested.

May I try out an activity before I commit?

Yes, you have one free trial. 

Can my family visit with me at Goward House?
Yes, of course. We have a very nice lounge, an expansive sun deck with umbrellas, a large lawn for grandkids to run around, table-top games and a tea room for lunch or coffee which is open to the public.  Please note, however, that only members can engage in Goward House program activities.
How do I sign up for the special events you advertise in the newspaper?
You sign up for special events at the Goward House front desk, just inside the front door. There may or may not be a fee. These special events are often very popular so it’s best to sign up early as there will generally be a maximum number allowed.
Can I pay for fees with a credit or debit card?

Yes, we do take credit and debit cards, however, we do not take payments over the phone at this time. 

Do you serve beer and wine in the tea room?
No. We do not have a liquor license. If you are planning to rent the facility, however, you can obtain a liquor licence for your event.
When is Goward House open?
Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Weekends and evenings are reserved for facility rentals.
I'm interested in volunteering. Can I pick what I do, when and how much?

There is every likelihood we can tailor your volunteer work to fit with your schedule. Some volunteers work regular shifts which might be once a week, twice a week, twice a month or just occasionally as a fill-in. A normal shift is three hours, typically 9:30-12:30 and 12:30-3:30.

There are lots of different duties that a volunteer can choose to carry out. Working in the garden and woodland, in the kitchen and at the front desk are common choices, but there are other roles too. If you have a special skill that you would like to contribute let’s talk.

Do activities start at certain times of the year like University?
Some activities have a start and finish such as Spanish or Bridge lessons. Most, however, are of a drop-in nature and continue indefinitely. An activity’s description will tell you which it is.
